Permeapad Plate Drug Membrane Permeability Test
Drug membrane permeability tests using artificial membranes without Caco-2 cells, with a unique lamination technology to create multilayers of lipids and films.
Evaluation of Drug Permeability from Cell Membranes Using Artificial Membranes In the development of new drugs, the examination of the pharmacological properties and toxicity of compounds, along with the study of absorption characteristics from intestinal membranes, is considered one of the important factors. The evaluation of absorption characteristics is generally conducted using Caco-2 cell tests. To perform Caco-2 tests, cell culture on the membrane of test well plates is required, but this cultivation demands significant time and effort. Issues may arise with the reproducibility of permeability tests due to the heterogeneity of the culture. The Permeapad Plate, which laminates phospholipids with a special film, serves as an alternative method for compounds where membrane permeability is rate-limiting in Caco-2 tests. Since the phospholipids are laminated with a film, they can be stored at room temperature and used immediately. The homogeneous film allows for high measurement reproducibility.
